How I was called to the Mission Field/Julia
The way that I first found out about Adventures in Missions was through my previous youth leader, Erin Wingate. She went on The World Race and one day came to church and told us all about how God has worked through her and what an experience the year had been before her.
Ever since I was little, my mom has been getting National Geographics and everytime something on t.v from another country would come on, she would show me on a map where it was located.
Because of this, traveling and exploring new things have always been something that I’ve wanted to do.
I checked out the website a few times and I looked around and I knew for months that I really wanted to travel on a mission trip this summer, but it seemed like it wasn’t possible. It felt like I could dream but it wouldnt happen. I feel so strongly that here, yea maybe I can help at soup kitchens or rehab homes, but I feel like I’m being called to do so much more. I feel like God is asking me to help people who are living in poverty and who haven’t been exposed to the amazing life that we have in America. I feel like I was given this life so that I could make something of it and help others as well as giving my all towards anything I do. I know especially that God is calling me to do missions and calling me towards being a missionary in other countries. We don’t realize how many people are living with barely anything to eat, and hardly adequate homes. I just hope that some day I can influence atleast one person and share with them how great God is and how amazing. This is just a huge passion for me and I am truely just really really excited. Beyond words. One thing that I’ve realized is how many people have supported me and how just being a good person and being kind to people is so rewarding. Even people who are praying for me, just them taking alittle time out of their day to consider me in their blessing is such a gift. I hope that I could touch someone elses life as much as mine has been touched, maybe even more if possible.
I decided to apply for Costa Rica because I did alittle research and I really thought that I could contribute alot there, also that God was calling me towards the events that we would be doing there, lastly I enjoy speaking spanish and even though alot of Costa Ricans know English, I would love to use some of the knowledge that I have.
I know that this is going to be such a life changing experience and I’m so excited about the experiences that I will have, the friends I will make, and the ways that I can help others.
